Bucs-O-So Good as Shelford Turn Corner Shelford 34 – 6 Dings Crusaders (written by Alex Birkby) Bucs grabbed the headlines by scoring four tries in a match where Shelford dominated Ding Crusaders from start to finish. Dings seized the initiative early on after a Shelford infringement was punished by Mitch Burton’s hefty boot. Shelford were soon in front after a training ground move was executed to perfection and Grant Anderson sent Bucs scorching in for his first score, converted by Harry Owens. The same duo combined again for Bucs to fly into the left corner, after the home pack had bullocked their way into the Dings 22. Another Burton penalty enabled Dings to remain in the fixture, but Shelford’s playmaker turned tryscorer as Naca put in a crunching tackle in midfield allowing Anderson to pick up the loose ball and dive over for Shelford’s third. Another Owens conversion sent Shelford into the interval with a healthy 19 – 6 lead. The Shelford pack continued to dominate in the second half and Anderson continued to assist as he broke through the Ding’s defence once more before offloading to Naca who crossed the whitewash after selling an audacious dummy to his opponents. However, Bucs sealed the victory with a clinical and blistering brace and Shelford’s fine start to 2012 continued.
