Shelford 5ths 14 : 60 Sawston 1st/2nd (written by Richard Craddock) Well yesterday's game was like that, I had to ask Lee Coney, who'd scored the other try in the club house (it was him who'd crashed over from '20 yards'). The try I'd remembered was by one of the many Tom's in the team (who I'd sadly mixed up names with and sent him to Newmarket!) The game was going to be a tough one as this was the only Sawston team out but we'd faced adversity before and like the saying goes 'if you can treat it in the same way as victory ...' I paraphrase a little . We were, in phases ,playing good rugby but our tackling let us down and it wasn't until we held onto the ball that we realised that we could live with the opposition. We played some lovely rugby ,in particular with the aforementioned try by Lee which came from a perfect drive / rolling maul by the forwards. Tim the NuMan this week who managed to tackle everyone of the Sawston tream during one phase of the game and G.I Joe 'Pat' who was great at the lineout and ran beautifully with the ball (once he'd learnt not to do it one handedly) Everyone deserves a thank you, in particular James W (the sight of him walking out the showers will stay with me forever) Jules (his pants are great) and Kai who kept the game going between forwards and backs. All the lads who got a half are appreciated and will get longer next time. |
