The last of our friendly matches and another win. In similar fashion to recent matches we didn’t quite get our game plan working but our defence and spirit got us through. Hitchin were a far more organised team than recent weeks and so it took us a bit of time to get things working. A good break by Will Rist led to a penalty close to the line which was shipped out quickly for Harry Robbns to touchdown in the corner. A period of storm weathering then ensued before one of their players attempted a chip over only to be gathered by Charlie Worthington who ran in from our 22 to score under the posts. We started the second half strongly and played much better for the 40 minutes, Charlie Worthington scoring again and Warren Bleasdale also touching down. Unfortunately we also conceded two tries although each time we defended our line for long periods of time before finally letting them through. On the whole it was a good game and our overall standard is improving. There are still bits which we can work on in training but we should be ready for the league season to start this weekend. |
