Shelford 27 - 15 Bridgwater and Albion

Aki Lea scored a brace of tries in this error-ridden fixture and was the difference between the two sides as Shelford claimed a bonus point victory against Bridgwater and Albion at the Davey Field.

Shelford started strongly and Ed Gough put the hosts ahead with a penalty after an early infringement from the visitors. Shelford's first try was the result of a superb individual effort as Dom Jones embarked on a 40 meter mazy run, beating several men before crossing the whitewash on the left flank.

However, Bridgwater responded positively and hooker Matt Hastie darted in at the corner for their first try. Play was soon at the other end of the pitch and quick ruck ball saw Shelford fly half, Tom Dann, find loose head James Ross with a try scoring pass, which Gough converted. The see-saw nature of the game continued, as Bridgwater centre Stark found a gap in the Shelford defence to score Bridgwater's second try after good work from the visiting pack. Both sides entered the interval with the score 15 - 10 to the hosts. The second half saw more end to end rugby, which yielded two more tries for the hosts and one for the visitors.

After several powerful drives by his forwards, Shelford bulldozer, Aki Lea, powered through the Bridgwater defence to score his first try of the game and Shelford's third, which Gough converted. With play venturing to the opposite end of the pitch, Bridgwater scrum half, Jack Kohler, sneaked down the blind side for his side's third try of the game. However, Lea had the final say, as he burst through the Bridgwater defence from an attacking scrum, scoring his second try of the game and securing a bonus point for the hosts.
