Saturday sees the development squad travel to Southend for a friendly and return fixture from the one played at the start of the season which ended in a 22-22 draw. It should be another evenly matched game with Southend bottom of Canterbury 1 and Shelford at the top end of Canterbury 2. Illness and absence has affected the back line somewhat but with University returnees and the forward pack as strong and mobile as ever with fantastic competition for places, it is another very strong team that take the field and will be pushing hard for a winning start to 2010.
