Shelford find way to Seventh Heaven

Shelford returned to winning ways by producing a 7-try performance to beat Lydney at the Davey Field. 

Shelford started strongly with Shelford fullback Glynn pegging the visitors back deep in their own territory. From a stolen line out, the ball found it's way into the hands of Tongan bulldozer, Aki Lea, who forced his way over from 10 meters out, Gough converting the score. Two Shelford infringements presented Lydney outside half, Anthony Wicks, with penalty opportunities, which he converted. However, Shelford regained the ascendancy and with the tide in their favour, Shelford's forwards put together several powerful drives before the ball was moved swiftly to open-side Sam Hoad who scored in the corner.

Shelford continued to play through their forwards in the second half and debutant Matt Gregersen powered his way over from close range. Shelford continued to play the majority of the game in their opponent's territory and Shelford flyer, Dom Jones, raced through a gap in the Lydney defence for Shelford's bonus-point try, which Dann converted. Shelford continued to attack with purpose and centre Glitherow made a decisive break before offloading to Chiwanga for Shelford's fifth try, which Dann again converted.

Shelford skipper, Alex Birkby, was next in on the act and disrupted a defensive scrum to dart over the whitewash. Glynn chipped cleverly into space and Tim Mann completed the rout racing through for Shelford's seventh try.
