Shelford 5th XV 5 Royston II 19

Does anybody remember the scene in the film "The Day After Tomorrow" when the storm comes into New York and you see all the sea birds flying like mad. That's what I was looking for this afternoon. The weather influenced the game immensely and it made for a forward dominated game. Thankfully our forwards were up to the task, and they gave 100% for the whole game.

Royston had a few tricks up their sleeve and went out of their way to make it difficult for us. I don't know what a couple of their players agenda's were but it made for a frustrating afternoon. They spoilt the rucks and mauls and aggravated our players without the referee seeing anything. Players who deserve special mention are all the forwards for battling through, Rob B, Denis and particularly Jordan in the backs, he has real speed and makes it difficult to get hold of him. The wind played an important role in the outcome but all that apart, we gave our all and came away battered , tired but I think happy. Thanks lads for not going shopping and pulling on a Shelford shirt.
