Shelford Ladies 10 Moseley 36

The weather reflected the mood when the ladies travelled away to Moseley on Sunday 1st November. A three week break took it’s toll on Shelford, who turned up unprepared and started the game a bit lack lustre. The Moseley pitch was on a defiant slope, this coupled with a strong wind behind should have benefited Shelford in the first half, however a sluggish start meant that Shelford didn’t capitalise on this. Moseley scored first after a period of pressure early in the first half.

When Shelford played their well practiced game plan of quick hands and strong back running they were rewarded a couple of tries from Naomi Linklater and Charlotte Ayres. However some poor tackling and conceding a few penalties around the ruck allowed Moseley to stay ahead. The half time score was 17-10 to Moseley. In the Second half, with the wind and slope to contend with, Shelford upped their game with good strong defensive play and many more effective attacking runs. However, the well organised Moseley side continued to string together some good phases of play and scored a number of tries in the second half.  Coach Gary Mclaughlin was disappointed with the first half of play but felt Shelford came back in the second half but this was too late to be reflected in the score. Shelford still have some areas to work on over the next few weeks.

Shelford are playing at home next Sunday 8th November to Cambridge Select.
