ImageBridgewater & Albion 21 - Shelford 37

After a slow start, Shelford produced a superb second half display to return from Bristol with all the points for the second time this season.

After the long journey, Shelford were slow out of the blocks and an early infringement from the visitors presented Bridgewater fullback with an opportunity to kick the home side into an early lead, which he duly converted.

Shelford's reply was positive and swift and a series of powerful drives up the left flank resulted in Shelford bulldozer, Aki Lea, barging through several would-be tacklers for Shelford's first try. Play was soon at the other end of the pitch however and Bridgewater's forwards replied with a well-worked try of their own, which was converted. Gough kicked a penalty for Shelford to reduce the arrears to 10 - 8 going into the break.

A slick back row move at the start of the second half resulted in Gough crossing for Shelford's second try, which he converted. With the tide seemingly in their favour, Shelford missed a series of midfield tackles to allow Bridgewater outside half, Matt Richards, to cross for a fine individual score. Then Shelford entered their purple patch, which saw Shingai Chiwanga, Ed Mills and Aki Lea score to seal the win and secure their first 5-point haul of the season.
