Image Bishop’s Stortford 7 Shelford 5    Conditions as with every match probably on Saturday were shocking and as a result this match was always going to be close in its score and riddled with mistakes for either side.

Defensively we were good and for most of the match bar one slip in the first half which allowed them to score and crucially as it turned out convert, although, whether the ball was grounded is another story. Having gone behind we fought back well and played a lot of the time in their half and were rewarded with this with a score from Clem. At half time we were confident we could leave the field victorious but you are never sure which Shelford are going to turn up, one buoyed with confidence and wanting to win or one that wants to self destruct and feel the whole world is against them. For the second half of this match it was unfortunately the latter. Our set pieces were not working well and our cohesiveness as a team was lacking but that was naturally the referees fault or so it appeared to some and off we went on a downward spiral blaming each other or the ref. Apart from a few players we do not as a team roll our sleeves up and get stuck into the match, moaning is far easier and if we got points for that we would be so far clear at the top of the league we would have won already. We could have won Saturday and that really is the disappointing factor for when the final whistle goes that is it and you don’t get another chance to change the result so why don’t we do that while the match is going and finish with no regrets on performance or chances missed. The result says it all, we lost, and we have to gather ourselves and onto the next match but need to now to go on a winning streak so as not to slide down this table but to keep the pressure on at the top of it. What a difference a week makes.
