Image Having beaten Civil Service convincingly at the Davey Field, the Shelford collective are preparing for a much sterner test of character as we play the return fixture this weekend. Civil Service have had some good results of late, including a convincing victory against Old Albanians at home and a narrow defeat at Hertford. All thoughts that this is going to be a formality have been banished, as we look to start the New Year in the same positive way that we concluded 2007.

Shelford welcome Dafydd Lewis (Daff) to the club. Daff joins us from a brief spell at Southend, having previously played for Cambridge RFC and Cambridge University. Daff has been taken on as a player / coach, playing at either centre or fly half and assuming overall responsibility for coaching the back division.

Other changes include Ben Thornton playing at 6, with Sam Tovo moving to the bench, Scott Jackowski moving from wing to open side flanker and Nick Sutcliffe returning to the second row in place of injured Ed Mills.

As always, a win is our primary objective and if we can win well, this will assist us in our push to achieve promotion at the end of the season.
